SYNOPSIS
Inaugurated in 1998 in Nouméa, the Jean-Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center celebrates Kanak culture and the dialogue between tradition and modernity. Composed of ten wooden and bamboo “huts” opening toward the sea, the complex reinterprets traditional forms through innovative construction techniques. The project embodies sustainability, cultural identity, and harmony with the landscape — a symbol of how architecture can express both memory and progress.
