SYNOPSIS
Mobile Infinito is a collective project that originated in 1981 from an idea by Alessandro Mendini with the Alchimia group, a laboratory of radical experimentation in Italian design.
The documentary reconstructs the genesis and meaning of this visionary work through archive material, original drawings, period photographs and first-hand accounts from some of the designers involved: Alessandro Guerriero, Denis Santachiara and Ugo La Pietra.
More than forty years after its creation, Mobile Infinito emerges as a collective reflection on design as an expressive, poetic and political language.
For its presentation in September 1981, in the courtyard of the Politecnico di Milano, Alessandro Mendini brought in the Florentine theatre company Magazzini Criminali. The documentary includes excerpts from the original footage of the performance. Federico Tiezzi, who created the performance, and Franco Raggi, who designed the set, recount the work and the spirit that drove the presentation.
