SYNOPSIS
Fratelli Levaggi is an artisan workshop that has been making authentic Chiavari chairs since 1963, using traditional methods and materials. Elegant, sturdy and remarkably light, crafted and finished entirely by hand, these chairs are masterpieces of aesthetics and technique, and a fine example of the quality and creativity of Italian craftsmanship.
The Chiavari chair was created in the early nineteenth century by the cabinetmaker Giuseppe Gaetano Descalzi. A traditional piece that went on to become a classic, it anticipated the inventiveness of Italian design, and in 1955 it inspired the architect and designer Gio Ponti’s Superleggera.
