SYNOPSIS
Maria Vittoria Backhaus after studying Scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera began her career as a photojournalist of cultural, political and musical events. The difficulties encountered as a female photographer in the world of information, however, pushed her in another direction. In the early 80s she began collaborating with Uomo Vogue and Casa Vogue and since then she has offered an experimental, imaginative, original and unique vision of fashion. She is considered a leading photographer for fashion, design, accessories, objects and food.
“I often, like many photographers, am bulimic, in the sense that I take ten thousand photos. I don’t know why I do it, but I do it. I always have the camera in my hand to take pictures of everything. I get very bored of everything, after a while I get fed up, so it makes me happy to have done a bit of all types of photography, from reportage, with which I started, to furniture to fashion”.
