SYNOPSIS
“Masking yourself is the tool to have the sensation of changing dimension, species and space”.
Leonor Fini was born in Argentina, raised in Trieste, from here she left to stop first in Milan and then in Paris, where she was one of the protagonists of the French art world since the first exhibition in 1932.
The film is a research that begins in the artist’s archive, which is located in her house in Paris, now renovated, where her last cat is still alive. Looking after him is Richard Overstreet, a dear friend and guardian of Leonor’s memories.
The film tells the story of Leonor’s life, through a 1991 interview, and the voice of her friends from the Trieste period, Gillo Dorfles and Daisy Nathan, sister of the painter Arturo Nathan.
Retracing her biography means entering a psychological and identity labyrinth, which spans more than half a century of art history, starting from Central Europe, where Trieste occupied a prestigious position.
